BMW Car Club of America Foundation
In March 2002, the BMW Car Club of America, an organization of over 75,000 members, formed the non-profit, tax-exempt, charitable BMW CCA Foundation (visit), to provide benefits to the motoring public and owners of BMW automobiles. Its charter under Section 501(c)(3) enables the Foundation to establish programs to benefit the public in general, and BMW owners specifically. The vision of the Foundation is to be a significant repository of BMW information and to foster educational programs for the automotive community.
To that end, the Foundation has three initiatives on which it is focused: the Preservation and Restoration Program, which fosters and promotes the art of vehicle preservation and restoration; the Library, Archives and Museum Program, which will create a repository for BMW-related historical documents, literature and paraphernalia; and the Driver Safety School Program, which provides financial aid and management to the Tire Rack Street Survival program.
Sports Car Club of America Foundation
The SCCA Foundation is the nonprofit charitable arm of the Sport Car Club of America, the world’s largest auto club and America’s premier racing organizer. The Foundation’s charter is to promote automotive education and safety programs, preserve the history of racing and rallying in America, and to encourage college-level automotive engineering students. To those ends, the Foundation has partnered with Street Survival and its commercial sponsor The Tire Rack to promote teen safe-driving programs throughout America. The all-volunteer staff puts on Street Survival schools at SCCA events and venues all year long, teaching car-control skills to new drivers and potential members.
Michelin (visit) has joined the BMW Car Club of America Foundation in supporting the Tire Rack Street Survival teen driving program for 2011, earning the title of Official Pavement Sponsor. The program teaches teens driving skills often overlooked in traditional driver education courses.
